Match report |
Bridge Road fans were treated to an afternoon of full-on soccer which somehow failed to produce a single goal.

Blues continued to showcase their new talent in of their Second Division visitors.

Eddie Youds was his usual defensive rock, but it was the new boy Vil Powell who impressed.

The goal monger – who comes to Grays with a great goal scoring record but a reputation for upsetting his fans after quitting his previous clubs Retford and North Ferriby United – came close on several occasion.

In the wilting sun the ref stopped the match to allow players to re-hydrate as temperatures rocketed in the Bridge Road stadium which is still undergoing extensive work at present.

Dean Brennan had a cheeky lop attempt hooked out and then fans’ favourite Freddy Eastwood proved that he remains a threat to the best of them with a ball which he just hit wide.

The match was a tonic for Stimmo’s troops and comes hot on the heels of the team’s 2-1 victory over a tough Swindon side last week.
